The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) returns to Brands Hatch on 6-7 June to headline American SpeedFest 8 and it’s already shaping up to be better than ever with lots of major developments over the off-season including the news that 1997 Jacques Villeneuve will return with his own team.
Canadian Villeneuve, who returns to the NWES for a second straight season in 2020, will spearhead a four-strong line-up for his own FEED Vict Racing outfit. Villeneuve finished eighth in last year’s NWES with multiple podium finishes and he’ll be aiming to build upon that with his own team in 2020.
Villeneuve will be joined in the FEED Vict Racing line-up by Frenchman Patrick Lemarie, with whom he formed the team. Despite their longstanding friendship, this will be first time the two have lined up as teammates.
Other big names on this year’s NWES grid will include Spanish three-time champion Ander Vilarino who returned to the championship following a lengthy absence last year. Vilarino is something of a Brands Hatch specialist with five wins at the Kent venue, including four at previous editions of SpeedFest.
Another big piece of news was multiple-time ‘King of Brands’, Israel’s Alon Day, joining PK Carsport for 2020.
The NWES is Europe's only officially endorsed NASCAR series, featuring colourful race-prepared stock cars from Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota.
