1997 Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will return to American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch in 2021, following the confirmation that he will return to the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) for a third season.
Villeneuve previously raced full-time in Europe's only official NASCAR series in 2019 before contesting a part-time schedule last year. He finished eighth overall in his maiden campaign, before claiming a best race result of second place during one of his appearances in 2020.
The 1995 Indy 500 winner will pair up with another former Grand Prix driver in team owner Alex Caffi. The Canadian will race for a new joint venture between Alex Caffi Motorsport and Federico Monti's Academy Motorsport.
Villeneuve will contest the Pro class of the NWES, which is set to headline the returning American SpeedFest on Independence Day weekend (3/4 July). Brands Hatch's popular themed family event has established itself as a unique highlight of the motor racing calendar since its inception in 2013, and Sunday's Pro NASCAR race is always a major highlight.
Villeneuve said: "I am super excited to enter this season with a brand new team and the great enthusiasm everyone is showing. Federico and Alex bring the perfect mix of positive attitude, experience and knowledge we need to hit the ground running with this new project. I'm confident we have what it takes to go for the win in every race of the 2021 NWES season."
