American SpeedFest will return in spectacular style with a switch to Independence Day weekend next year, when the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series returns to the venue on 3/4 July following this year’s enforced absence.
The switch to Fourth of July weekend adds an exciting new element to the event, as Independence Day celebrations reserved usually for those on the other side of the Atlantic come to the South East.
The Kent circuit’s annual US-themed extravaganza will once again blend the NASCAR-headlined on-track show with themed entertainment around the venue, including car displays featuring Ford Mustangs, Dodge Challengers, Chevrolet Camaros and many more iconic classic muscle cars.
The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is the only officially endorsed series of its kind on this side of the Atlantic, and blends colourful American-style silhouette stock cars with top European circuits. High profile drivers who’ve contested the championship in recent years include 1997 F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve and NASCAR legend Bobby Labonte.
Highlights of American SpeedFest in recent years have included stunt shows, themed food, American pageantry, driving experiences and much more. Further details of what awaits at American SpeedFest 2021 will be made available in due course.
MSV Motorsport Events Manager David Willey said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to confirm that the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will return to Brands Hatch on Independence Day weekend next year. The rare opportunity to combine our annual extravaganza with Fourth of July celebrations was simply too good to miss. We’re hoping too that by moving the date slightly later into the summer that we’ll be in the best possible position to welcome as many race fans to Brands Hatch as possible, following this year’s COVID-enforced cancellation.”
Jerome Galpin, President/CEO NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, said: "We are delighted to return to Brands Hatch for the American Speedfest in 2021. It was heartbreaking for us not to be able to run this great event in 2020 because of the worldwide crisis. It’s fantastic to get back to our passionate British fans for what is always one of the highlights of the NWES championship. We want you fans to be there! We can’t wait to be back together at the American Speedfest and work again with our friends at MSV.”
