Brands Hatch’s American SpeedFest V revs up to full gear today (Sunday) with a supercharged display of Americana on and around the world-famous Indy circuit’s ‘speed bowl’. Today’s entertainment will be headlined by two races from the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES), including a headline Elite 1 race, which will be preceded by an opening ceremony from 12:30.
Star drivers to look out for in the NWES races will include reigning champion Anthony Kumpen, who won yesterday’s opening Elite 1 NASCAR race, and 2000 NASCAR champion Bobby Labonte, a bona fide stateside stock car legend. There will be support races too, so there is plenty of competition to look ahead to throughout the afternoon.
Away from the racing, plenty of other attractions will share the spotlight, with a huge selection of American cars descending upon the venue to form off-track car displays. Other highlights will include a first Brands Hatch appearance for Mickey Mouse’s Hot Doggin Roadster, the star car from Disney Junior’s Mickey and the Roadster Racers – get there early for a photo and there may be a set of Mickey Mouse ears waiting for you!
Stunt shows aplenty will add an exciting blend of adrenaline to the mix, including the Demon Drome Wall of Death’s vertical roadway, whilst world-famous stunt driver Terry Grant and Fast & Furious stuntwoman Zarene Dallas will be in action too - this year’s event includes a special celebration of the Fast & Furious movies, complete with replica cars from the movies.
We’re in for a second straight day of special demonstrations too, with NASCAR and single-seater machines taking to the circuit. The list of appearing single-seaters includes a mouth-watering collection of historic Formula 5000 cars, plus a stunning Penske PC22 IndyCar, as raced to victory in the 1993 Indianapolis 500!
There will be much more on top of all that too!
Tickets for American SpeedFest V at Brands Hatch on Sunday 11 June are £29 on the gate but under-13s go free.
